Hydrosalpinx treatment: Symptoms, Causes and Natural Treatment
Life becomes difficult for a woman who is having infertility issues. She has to go from place to place for getting her infertility issues treated. Treatment at different places may also disappoint her.
There are various reasons that cause infertility in a woman. Hydrosalpinx is one of them. It is related to the fallopian tube. The tube gets water/fluid in it and becomes blocked. The fallopian tubes have crucial roles to play in the process of conception.
In the female reproductive system, egg cells, called oocytes or the ova, are produced by the ovaries. Ova are collected by the fallopian tubes through fimbriae, finger-like projections, that exist at the end of the fallopian tubes.
An egg travels through the fallopian tube to reach the uterus. The uterus, also called the womb, is the place where the egg develops into a child if fertilized. Fertilization often takes place in the fallopian tube when sperm mingles with the egg. The fertilized egg then travels to the uterus and sticks in the endometrium for its further growth.
If the egg does not get fertilized, it comes out of the body during the periods. The way the female reproductive system functions is amazing. But, hydrosalpinxs can cause infertility issues by blocking the tube.
However, if only one tube is blocked due to hydrosalpinx, a woman can still conceive through the other tube, but it increases the risk as the hydrosalpinx tube can also leak water anytime. It could be dangerous for both, the mother and the growing baby.
Treatment for hydrosalpinxs becomes necessary; otherwise, the condition may become worse as time passes. Hydrosalpinx natural treatment is also possible. You will get to read about it in the treatment section.

Causes of Hydrosalpinx
There are said to be different reasons that could cause it. But, the most common is infection. It could be a long, untreated infection. Causes that could be responsible for hydrosalpinx are:
- Endometriosis
- Fibroids
- Pelvic adhesions
- Scar tissue
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- An ectopic pregnancy
- Prior surgery in the uterus or fallopian tube

Diagnosis of Hydrosalpinx
It can be diagnosed by several methods.
- Laparoscopy. It is a surgical procedure, also called keyhole surgery. The surgeon in order to see inside enters a camera into the uterus through a tiny incision made on the abdomen. This procedure makes them able to detect the blockage and observe the condition of the tubes.
- An ultrasound. However, this method is not very effective, it can indicate hydrosalpinxs if the tube is swollen or enlarged due to fluid.
- Hysterosalpingogram (HSG). It is x-ray imaging, used to detect tubal blockage. A special dye is administered into the uterus through the cervix. The flow of the dye is detected by x-ray imaging.
A sonohysterosalpingography. Saline fluid with sterile air is channeled into the uterus through the cervix. And to detect the blockage through the flow of the saline fluid a transvaginal ultrasound is done.
Treatment of Hydrosalpinx
Repairing or removing the hydrosalpinxs tube through surgery is the most common treatment in modern medical science. Complete removal of the hydrosalpinxs tube through surgery is called salpingectomy.
Surgery could also be done to remove adhesions or scar tissues. If endometrial growths are the cause, the doctor can remove them through surgery.
Many women after the treatment of hydrosalpinxs choose in vitro fertilization (IVF) for giving birth to a child. But, IVF is not always successful and it also carries the risk of immature birth, multiple pregnancies and infection.
